Friday Adventures

In my effort to become a Recovering People Pleaser, I vowed to spend more time with my sweet Brady. She’s 14, and she’s awesome. We have had one heck of year, and she deserves every minute I can give her. And why shouldn’t I be giving her every possible minute I can?

So I shuffled my schedule, delegated some, back-burnered work (it’ll be there when I get back), shirked some responsibilities (the laundry can wait), and committed to a Friday Adventure every, single week with her.

(I’ll have to go back and recount our previous Friday Adventures for you later!)

We have successfully managed to keep our commitment to a Friday Adventure for 4 weeks, but we hit a snag yesterday. I haven’t felt well in several days, and yesterday was particularly hard so we missed it. Today we had Daddy, though, and I decided to get up, get dressed, and do my best.

We found our way to Covington, TN, to Buckaroo Hatters Custom Hats. Brady got her first – and beautifully crafted – felt cowboy hat fitted with a Cherokee Indian bead band.

Mr. Mike is the real deal, a true artisan. Check out his interview with our friend, JB Farrell, on JB’s own The Southern Cowboy podcast at…

Then back in Memphis, we ate our faces off at Ben Yay’s on Main… shrimp and grits, red beans and rice, crawfish corn chowder, blackened catfish, Cajun pasta.

Our adventure turned out great, and we got to enjoy it with Keith. I’m glad we didn’t miss it.

Design the life you want, Y’all, and don’t let anything keep you from it.
