Things I learned today…

I really enjoyed my morning. I planned it…and it worked. Now here’s hoping I’m not miserably sleepy tomorrow and can do it again.

I started a new book…All The Light We Cannot See. So far, beautiful.

We can spot a good mama when she walks through the studio door, and it thrills our souls.

We live in a world of hyperbole. “She was absolutely devastated.” Really? What’s going to happen if anything ever befalls her that’s truly horrible? She’ll die. “He is the best guy ever!” Really? That guy? Raise them standards, Girlfriend. Yeesh. “I’m having the worst migraine.” Worse than what? A hangnail? You can post to Facebook when you’re having the worst migraine you’ve ever had? Geez, Man.

I learned that when I come home from work at 8:30 pm with a frazzled brain to flowers and steaks, baked potatoes, asparagus, I married right.I finished almost all the laundry today…at once. I mean, I didn’t. I have 2 loads to go, but almost. Sometimes it’s cool when I get it all done at once. Empty hamper. Clothes in drawers and on hangers. It’s a pretty satisfying hour or so.

Oh, and I don’t do my kids’ laundry. They do their own. If you haven’t taught your kids to do their laundry, get on the stick. Blake could do his, and all of ours if I need him to, at 9 years old. And so could Brady. Do it, Y’all. Life changer! Plus, they’ll grow up knowing they don’t need a man/woman to take care of them. Independence!

Do y’all save bags? Like plastic grocery bags, paper bags, gift bags? What even is that? I have a million…of each…in different colors…for every occasion…in all sizes. You need one for a coffee mug? I got you. For wine? Right here. For taking your lunch. Yep. Plastic double bag? Oh, yeah. Bugs Bunny bag for a “happy” to give to a third grade kid? You can be THAT specific, and I’m your girl.

Ok. The next 4 days are jammed packed. I’ve got a lot to fit in, accomplish, and complete…all while preserving time for myself. God speed.

That’s all. We learn every day, don’t we?
