Things I Learned / Catch Up

Things I learned lately…

Blogs are hard sometimes for introverts whose social batteries have gone kaput by the time they should be writing. It’s me. I’m they. Forgive me for not keeping up. Here’s a catch-up.

I was down a Facebook rabbit hole today when I came upon the profile of a woman from Belgium. She had posted that she was “in a relationship”, and her friends responded with “congratulations” (“proficiat” in her language)…except this one friend. His response translated as “nice, but take it easy”. This was sound advice.

Well, I think the time is upon us, whereby the timely shipping window has closed for Amazon Prime. May God have mercy on the souls of all who must now venture out into the human world to physically go and buy Christmas gifts from an actual brick-and-mortar store.

May God also have mercy on whomever programmed autocorrect to change “God” to “good” everytime I type it. I mean… they’re not wrong, but I will go back and manually change it to “God” every time, and I won’t be deterred.

You know, relationships with people hit different when you are truly happy for them, offer genuine encouragement, and are honestly proud of their accomplishments. That level of goodness can’t exist when you compare, wish you had what they had, or compete with them.

Migraines suck. (Raise your fist with me and angrily shout “YEAH!” if they plague you, too.) I had one this morning before daylight.

Coffee does not suck. (Raise your cup with me, close your eyes, and smile if you love it, too.)

The grocery store has no Bisquick or sausage, because apparently everybody and their sister’s hairdresser wants to make sausage balls, me included. So the Gluten-Free Bisquick remained, which I grabbed. Then I halfway stood on the refrigerator case to reach my entire arm into the dark recesses of the shelf to get the last few Tennessee Prides I saw hidden behind some lunch meat. You have to apply yourself and be willing to be flexible, both mentally and physically, to make sausage balls this Christmas.

I love that it’s cold today, and I’m flabbergasted that it will be upwards of 76 degrees on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Bah!

If you could live anywhere, where would you live? I’m not sure if I would choose any particular city, but I would choose to live in a place with beautiful views from all my windows.

That’s all. We learn every day, don’t we?
