Things I learned today…

The roomba decided to do it’s thing down the hallway at almost 5:00 am. I sat straight up baffled by who in the world could be running a leaf blower in our house, heart beating like 40 going west. Good morning!

Oh, and I looked this up in case you care…you begin with a lowercase letter when referring to compass directions (“like 40 going west”), and you use a capital letter when referring to a region (“settlers explored the West”).

Can I just say…I think we should care. Y’all, every, single thing that is sacred, meaningful, substantive, and revered is being minimized, touted as unimportant or outdated, or destroyed. Can we PLEASE try to hang on to proper use of the English language? I hear we can’t, but I felt compelled to say it.

Only a mythological solution? Perhaps. But we officially have an Apple device in a container of rice. Wish us luck.

I always marveled how many songs Keith knows all the words to, and there are a few he sings that make me giggle and fall in love all over again every time. His singing and not missing a single word, run, or background vocal to a song none of us (I mean, nobody) has heard in 40 years…so fun.

There is a difference between reacting and responding. Reacting vs. Responding. Y’all ever stop for a minute after you read something and just stare for a second rolling it over and over? That’s the stuff I’m working toward right there.

Broke a wooden spoon in the door of the dishwasher this morning. I’m down to one wooden spoon. Can you believe that? One. Who only has one wooden spoon?

Tonight in the kitchen…chill vibes. Jim Croce and Cat Stevens, Peter Frampton and Gordon Lightfoot. And I did not leave out the Chi-Lites, The O’Jays, Gladys Knight, and Billy Paul. Oh, and wine.

That’s all. We learn every day, don’t we?
