Things I learned today…

My children do their own laundry, but apparently many moons have passed since they have. The quest to scale the mountain of laundry was much akin to the effort made by Sir Edmund Hillary when he was the first to reach the summit of Everest in 1953.

About 9 years ago, I had the dance studio for a year and thought I was stupid. How could I have started this? Do I even know enough? Will this work? Should I keep doing it? I signed up for a dance conference in Phoenix, Arizona, led by Rhee Gold, and I found my people. The mentors spoke TO ME! I listened to every word they said, took copious notes, cried a lot, and vowed to not give up. Surely I could go back home, get my act together, and conquer the world! This season will be my 10th, the studio is pretty amazing, and I love what we do.

I tell you with all humility that I will leave tomorrow headed to that same Dancelife Teacher Conference, this year in Connecticut, AS A PRESENTER! I am honored, proud, and a little freaked out to be among the cast of leaders in the dance industry who will share their knowledge. Be serious and steadfast about making your dreams realities, Y’all. I’m thrilled to be living a few of mine this coming week.

It’s our cancer-versary. I kicked it off with a blog post from earlier to day (“Opportunities, PTSD, and Vikings”). If you don’t mind, I think I’ll write about it some through August and September. I have never written about it before, and there is plenty to share!

I don’t know what packing for a trip looks like for y’all…but I’m extra, so it’s pretty ridiculous over here right now. But hey, hey, hey…before COVID, I got the TSA Pre-Check deal, so I’m about to sail right on through security without taking off my shoes, unloading my electronics, or submitting to the cavity check and stool sample.

At one point today, it seemed like I heard vacuuming going on upstairs. Do you think it could have been vacuuming going on upstairs? (The whole upstairs is my kids’ rooms, so…)

Speaking of vacuuming, I need to do baseboards. Uugghh. You know, last year during COVID, we were home, and I took first in the “Domestic Goddess of the Year” pageant. Now that we’re back to work, I rank like 2,143rd out of 2,145.

Keith just read me a meme that said, “I’m as emotionally stable as an IKEA table.” I felt that.

I’m off to finish packing and hang out with Keith as much as I can. We do NOTHING apart, so this week will be weird. I’m excited, though, and I can’t wait to tell you about it.

Oh, and thank you for sharing the posts and TILTs (“Things I Learned Today”). I don’t have many followers or readers yet, but it’s growing a little at a time. I see a few new folks, and I am grateful. I always hope you’re entertained by my nonsense, relate some, and laugh.

That’s all. We learn every day, don’t we?
