Things I learned today…

Getting out of bed in the morning is painful. I don’t pretend to do it with ease. It’s awful. Yet when I’ve done a TON of work and look up to find that it’s only 11:00 am, I kind of love it. But only then. At 6:15 pm, it’s stupid and awful, and I hate it.

So my right knee hurts…and my knees never hurt. I don’t know what that’s about. It’s quite out of the blue. I didn’t aggravate it in any way that I know of or can remember. It seriously hurts to bear weight on its own. Forget going up or down stairs like a normal person. Bah!

You know…Imma just say this out loud…it’s ok if you’re kids are in a class, camp, team, church group, or [insert any social, community, sporting, extracurricular, or civic group here] where they don’t know anybody. Y’all. Empower your kids to waltz up in a place like they own it, introduce themselves, and get on with it. I’m a dance teacher, right? I register kids for classes all the time. One thing I hear is “well, nobody else in her dance class goes to her school so she feels isolated”. WHAT?! I danced for the better part of 20 years with hardly anybody I went to school with. It was glorious! I met new people, learned there was a world out there, learned that kids were kids no matter where they had to go to school or chose to go. And most importantly, I learned that I could hang with anybody. Our kids don’t need to go through life in a bubble with the same handful of kids in their 4th grade class. Ok, rant over, but you hear me, right? Come on, Folks.

And speaking of kids (see now I’m stirred up), why are we making our kids little victims about stupid crap? Isolated? I also hear these: it’s unfair, not the same as last year, hurt her confidence, made him feel bad, not what she expected…and more! Sounds like life to me! Can we build our kids up, teach them to kick ass, and help them cope or maybe see that whatever it is ain’t so bad at all and perhaps even *gasp* GOOD? Fine. I’m done.

Your words are powerful.

Anybody else just want to wear leggings and hoodie, drink, and stay at home to read? Just me?

Sometimes I wonder if people think, “Wow, she posts all this stuff and really has her life together.”. Psshht. No, Ma’am. None of us have our life together. I just wear a lot of make-up and have big hair to dress it up. I bet Joanna Gaines doesn’t even have her life together. Her house is probably pretty and clean, though.

Hey, if y’all take the notion to share anything from this blog, mention that it’s me, your good friend. People might be apt to follow this winding road of ordinary nothingness, sarcasm, humor, and unsolicited advice if they know it’s a friend of yours. Or tell them I’m your sister or cousin or something. Just a thought.

Do y’all like that oily butter they put on popcorn at the movies? I don’t like it. But that nacho cheese shaky salt you sprinkle on…

That’s all. We learn every day, don’t we?
