I’m not responsible…

Hi, I’m Amanda, and not only am I not responsible for making other people happy, I’m also not responsible when someone gets mad.

Now don’t get me wrong. If I screw up and do or say something thoughtless and stupid that hurts someone, I have to own that and take responsibility for it. Apology time. Self reflection time. Self improvement time.

I’m saying that if I’m doing what I’m supposed to do, minding my manners, making decisions with a good heart, acting in good conscience, staying in my lane (this is super important), and being a good human, then I am not responsible when somebody gets bent.

And are people going to get their knickers in a twist about stuff? Heck, yes, they are. They’re even going to try to pin it on me (and Lordy, they do!). But it’s still not mine to own, and I will not own it.

I will not own it.

(I had to say it again, because I am a work in progress.)

This is pretty cool. Let’s keep working on it. Who’s with me?
