Things I learned today…
When I sit in a restaurant in Portland, Maine, watching Keith eat lobster on a random Friday, I think of all the time he’s on the greasy floor of a Buffalo Wild Wings, repairing damage done by roaches at a restaurant in East Memphis, or sweating in extreme temperatures on a roof…and I’m so happy for him.

I think hard work is important for so many reasons – a sense of pride, the opportunity to serve others, the ability to give back, and maybe occasionally the chance to enjoy your time that you exchange every day in order to work.
Did y’all catch that? Every day, we exchange our time for something else. And our time is precious, not to mention fleeting. Are you satisfied that you’re exchanging your time for whatever is worthwhile to you?
Teenagers are hard. I say that a lot, and I’ll say it again. And again. And again. Sheesh.
We are traveling this weekend, just Keith and I, to Portland, Maine. It’s beautiful and quite a different world than ours. I’m not sure what tomorrow will hold, because we don’t exactly have an itinerary (but I kind of like that, too).

I think hotels should be nicer than your house, and that’s tough for me, because I really like my house. But this one…this one has a bathtub that’s huge, and I can get all the way down in it, and it’s glorious. The fixtures are slick, the mirror is lighted. It’s a win.

So in my quest to NOT WORK 24/7, which as you know is hard for me and a work in progress, let me tell you what I did. I DID NOT bring an iPad or computer on this trip!! No folders, notebooks, or papers either. You wouldn’t believe the anxiety it gave me when we left the house, but I did it! Yee!
Now I’m off to enjoy this giant bathtub and see what we can discover tomorrow.
Pray for the world. Please.
That’s all. We learn every day, don’t we?
