Things I learned today…

I saw someone on Facebook ask if blah, blah, blah was “aloud” on a group page. Aloud. Give me strength.

Personal beliefs are interesting. We’ve all got them, right? I think if they’re properly based, we’re good. If not…meh…I don’t know. I’m damn firm in my convictions, so I’ve started looking into what they’re based on. Let’s think.

Are they based on scripture? Actual experience? Sage wisdom? Facts and real data from reliable sources? Things I’ve held, seen, done?

Are they opinion based? What my grandpa told me? What my mother said? What I’ve read? Something seemingly “smart” that I heard someone say?

The way I see it, our convictions could both rightly substantiate our life choices and send us in a good direction or have us totally confuzzled and lead us astray.

I guess this comes up for me, because I hear what people say, and I read what people post. I just can’t believe that folks REALLY feel and think the way they do about some stuff. I can’t wrap my mind around it. Do people’s belief systems no longer include basic humanity, human rights, respect, dignity, kindness, and discernment?

You can tell that, some days, social media ain’t for me. Political parties ain’t for me. Supporting groups and organizations ain’t for me. Polarizing people and trying to put everyone in a box ain’t for me. Attempting to radically redefine what’s right ain’t for me. I think all that needs to go away in exchange for what I said we seem to be missing – basic humanity, human rights, respect, dignity, kindness, and discernment.

And, Lordy, selflessness. Everybody is so wrapped up in themselves and their thing.

Could the world stop spinning just for a moment so we can regroup? If only!

I just want to love people and do what’s right. The only way I know to keep this world from hardening us is to just got out and do. Be these things.

The world is making me tired.

Oh, and the milk crate challenge is dumb. These kids are gon’ mangle their damn selves. Google it.

That’s all. We learn every day, don’t we?
